The AKFIN Advisory Committee met on May 31, 2018 in Juneau, AK hosted by the Alaska Fisheries Science Center.  This committee is a collaboration of state and federal agency members who work with AKFIN and help to guide development priorities and share data collection, processing, and reporting initiatives.  The meeting is an excellent opportunity for AKFIN and the fisheries agencies to share their progress and discuss upcoming work.

The AKFIN database has been updated to the latest version. Please contact AKFIN staff if you experience any unexpected behavior.

The AKFIN servers will be undergoing system maintenance and upgrades on December 27th. Servers will be taken offline around 3 AM PST and work is expected to be done by 2 PM PST. During this time our main webpage will be available, but the database, Answers and APEX will be unavailable. We will send out an email once the maintenance and upgrades have been completed.

After completion of the upgrades please inform us if you experience any unexpected behavior from any of the systems.

Ever wonder where Alaska groundfish and crab end up after they are caught? The Alaska Fisheries Science Center, the McDowell Group and the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission have collaborated on a report the explores the routes by which federally managed groundfish and crab end up as food around the world.

AKFIN Answers metadata reports are now available on the AKFIN dashboard (“Database Sources for Report Tables/Columns”). These reports provide Answers and R users the ability to see how the repository subject areas and column names correspond to the actual database tables and column names. In addition these reports provide column descriptions and logic.
